Planning Creatively Around Texts KS2

18/06/2018 - 10:00am to 3:30pm

This course has been updated for 2017-2018 using new books and teaching sequences.

Teachers on this training will explore creative teaching approaches that have been proven to enhance higher order reading, writing and spoken language across the curriculum. They will consider how to develop a cross-curricular unit of work inspired by a quality text that will support improved attainment in literacy and support thinking skills across the curriculum.

Teachers will gain:

  • A copy of the high quality text explored on the day along with a complimentary teaching sequence that details session by session planning - This will support teachers to put the ideas into immediate practise in their settings
  • The ability to develop a unit of work that deepens reader response and develops critical thinking skills
  • A range of creative teaching approaches that are proven to enhance literacy engagement and extend learning across the curriculum
